Phuket Wedding: Kristen & Karlson

I feel so lucky to be able to combine travel photography with a destination wedding.

So I jumped at the opportunity to do exactly that, when Kristen and Karlson emailed me asking me to photograph their wedding in Phuket, Thailand.

… and what a wedding it was!

I took my good friend Dave Campbell along to help capture the day too.

The team from Luxury Events Phuket absolutely nailed everything from start to finish as per usual and the facilities in Singapore airport were as state of the art as ever!

Thanks so much for having me there guys! I Cannot wait to design your album!

Jack Chauvel - Awesome Alex.. looks like such a fun wedding :)

David Campbell - What a wedding! And what a location. Good times brother, let’s do it again soon!

Kirk Marks - Wow that looks amazing and a great location – well done

Santo - Really awesome work Alex, looking forward to work with you this coming saturday!

I’m a fan already!

Tocal Homestead wedding: Raych & Karl

7 months… That’s the amount of time from when Raych first contacted me to the time we found a date that worked for both of us. The wedding date and location changed at least 3 times over that period of time.

We got there in the end, we had a venue the beautiful ‘Tocal Homestead’ and we had a date ‘Friday the 13th.’ Everything aligned and it happened and I’m so glad that it did.

I wish so badly I could write out the transcript of our emails back and forth in the organising stage of this wedding but it would just be too funny* and you wouldn’t be able to handle it.

Long story short as told through the following pictures…

*by too funny I may also mean too rude

I took my good mate David Campbell along for the day too!

Aisha - beautiful photos!

Sam Clark - These photos are mind blowing marksy!!! Such an amazing wedding!

Noosa wedding: Polly & Sam

Here is a story I call Polly & Sam. It is set in picturesque Noosa on the Sunshine Coast in Queensland.

This story doesn’t need many words. These photographs will tell you pretty much everything you need to know.

Two of the most beautiful people in this world. The perfect romance.

I stayed in a tent in their front yard for close to a week and this is what I saw…

Kim Power - Absolutely amazing work!

Amy - Amazing photograph not just taking wedding photos

South Coast Wedding: Ash & Tim

Where do I begin…

Ash & Tim are two of the most incredibly real, beautiful, happy and thoughtful people that I will ever have the pleasure of knowing. Let alone being trusted to photograph their wedding day.

The way these two live their lives is inspiring, I cannot begin to imagine people who are more content.

If I am asked who my role models are it’s Ash & Tim right up there at the top of my list. Not just because Tim is one of the most talented surfers I have ever seen, but because the way they listen, the way they smile , the way they love each other and they way they do family.

These two have such incredible families around them, I cannot explain it in words, but I will try… Unconditional love, brimming with positivity, all smiles, welcoming of anyone with open arms,  sincere, polite and genuinely interested. When I met all four of Ash & Tim’s parents (Fiona + David / Anne + Pete) I knew exactly why I loved these two so much. Let’s say they have had the perfect upbringing. Maybe the South Coast of NSW has something to do with it. It’s such a special area of the world.

I was so honoured to photograph this wedding, It will forever hold a very special place in my heart and I look forward to celebrating and hopefully being trusted again to photograph their 50th wedding anniversary. (If I can still hold up a camera, I’ll be 80!)

Since the wedding these two have also welcomed baby Jed into their family – he is amazing and I love him like a brother.

Here is the story of their wedding day, as told by me.

Meagan - Hi, I love your reception photo’s of Ash and Tim’s wedding. Is there any chance you’d share the camera settings/lighting you used to create these images? I have been trying to learn how to take photo’s like this for ever and can never nail it. Great images.
